About Us

Logistics Alliance Network is a boutique consulting company that works with strategic alliance partners
who provide supply chain services and technology solutions. Our customers include shippers, freight
payment companies and third party logistics providers. Cecil Bryan, President and owner of the
company, worked in the freight audit and payment industry for over thirty years. During that time, he
had leadership roles in sales, operations, product development and special projects for three of the
leading freight audit and payment provider’s in the industry.

Our expertise and broad industry knowledge was developed by working with numerous Fortune 500
companies like Dell, Philips, Pitney Bowes and more that provided a unique perspective into different
methodologies for managing global supply chains. We’ve worked strategically with numerous supply
chain executives to help them design customized payment solutions.

We focus on spend management, cost reductions strategies, supply chain business intelligence tools and
software, which are provided through our global network of strategic alliance partners.

Over time having designed and implemented numerous customized payment solutions, we have
developed a template for best practices. These best practices are based on an ‘I’ve been there done
that’ principle and have been honed and validated through numerous customer engagements.

Business process re-engineering


Oversaw conversion of manual freight payment process where over four million paper invoices were
digitized using OCR technology. Workflow was greatly enhanced by optimizing business rules for routing
invoices for processing. Operational costs were slashed by 30% by reducing manual data entry and
paper invoices no longer had to be handled by other departments. The customer experience was also
enhanced by providing access to scanned images on-line.

Collaboration web portal


New web portal was designed to allow customers and carriers to resolve invoice disputes in a
collaborative environment. One of the primary goals was to eliminate short payments for invoices being
processed in Europe, which is not allowed. When a dispute was encountered both the customer and the carrier were alerted to the issue. This allowed for invoices to be corrected and for credit notes to be
created if the invoice rates were incorrect.

Electronic payment optimization


Worked with alliance partner and freight audit and payment customer where manual payments by
check were converted to electronic payments by virtual card. This eliminated the cost of checks,
postage, envelopes, banking fees and automated the payment process. The real value to our customer
was the realization of over one million in rebates, which was virtually all bottom line profit.

FedEx electronic round trip process


Designed web-based application for handling invoicing disputes related to service failures and rating
issues. Once the non-pay files were sent to FedEx, the system reviewed all denials to determine if they
were valid. This highly automated process eliminated a significant amount of the previous process
where all disputed invoices had to be manually reviewed.
