E-invoicing & B2B Data Hub
In today’s world, suppliers are located across the globe and numerous trading partners have to be integrated. While traditional EDI is still the most widely used method for sending and receiving invoices, it’s costly and it requires resources from both buyers and sellers.

Traditional e-invoicing requires supplier resources for creating custom XML files. Smaller suppliers may be required to use portals for sending invoices or they may have to manually enter the data, which is costly and time consuming. In the transportation industry, PDF invoices can be sent via email by simply
signing up on the carrier’s website.

PDF invoices can be sent by e-mail to a cloud-based data hub, which provides a number of advantages over EDI and traditional e-invoicing. The primary reason being is that it removes all of the technical barriers of any other e-invoicing approach. Invoices can also be sent using FTP, HTTP, AS1, 2 and 4.
Some of the primary advantages include
  • It’s non-disruptive
  • No systems changes required
  • No IT requirement needed
  • You can expect over a 90% supplier (carrier) adoption rate
  • On-boarding costs are minimal
  • Ramp up time is fast
  • Its VAT compliant and captures all line item charges
Systems Integration
API technology has become the silver bullet for systems integration in supply chain management. It has also has facilitated the practice of building best of breed systems where a one size fits all approach doesn’t always work. API’s are the glue that can tightly integrate disparate systems into one cohesive
application and help deliver landed cost solutions.
Some ways API technology is being leveraged
  • ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, etc. can be integrated with the freight payment for match-pay process.
  • Transportation management systems can be integrated with freight payment process.
  • API’s are also replacing traditional EDI which is expensive to implement and maintain.
  • Unlike EDI, they provide real time data, which is a requirement for supply chain management.
  • Disparate systems can easily be integrated to build best of breed systems.
  • Supply chain visibility and event management
Electronic Payment Automation
Whether you are paying freight or other accounts payable invoices, there are various ways to automate and optimize the payment process. There are a number of different electronic methods that can be deployed to replace the costly and manual process of issuing paper checks.

Many companies are using payment hubs that utilize business rules to execute payments. These strategies can extend the days payable outstanding (DPO) or pay suppliers and carriers early for discounted rates. Payment strategies include can include the following:
  • ACH payments
  • Supply chain finance
  • Dynamic discounting
  • Virtual card payments with rebates
Last Mile & White Glove Optimization
As e-commerce continues to grow and modes of transportation other than parcel are being deployed, it is being increasing more important for companies to address last mile deliveries. Orders need to be optimized based on customer requirements and when multiple modes are involved, this adds another level of complexity.

One of the keys to success for companies is based on the level of customer service provided. The customer experience is mission critical and last mile deliveries are an important part that drives that success factor. Customer orders need to processed complete, hassle free and on-time. Late deliveries that lead to waiting time for customer installations are a real killer.

The level of complexity rises when you are trying to schedule multiple shipments that are needed for a project. This requires optimizing all of the orders to ensure everything arrives when you need it. Let our last mile and white glove consulting team work with you if you are having issues.
